A bobblehead doll, also called a
nodder, wobbler, or
head whacker, is a kind of collectible doll. Their heads are usually much bigger than their bodies, and are connected to the body by a spring. A slight movement will cause the head to bobble in an exagerrated way.
These wobblers first appeared in the 1950s, and by the 1960's, Major League Baseball produced a set for each ball team, but with generic faces. These baseball player nodders were frequently seen on the back dashboards of people's cars.
Soon nodders branched out of baseball into other areas like cartoon characters and musical groups.Elmer Fudd and Underdog are some popular ones. A bobblehead doll set made of The Beatles is one of the most sought after collection of nodders ever made!
